Boarding Schools in England

A boarding school is a school where some or all pupils study and live during the school year with other students and possibly teachers and/or administrators. Some boarding schools also have day students who attend the institution by day and return to their families in the evening.

The practice of sending children to their families or to schools so thet they could learn together is of very long standing. In Europe, a practice developed by early mediaval times of sending boys to be taught by literate clergymen, either in monasteries or in a great house holds. The Kings School, Canterbury, counts the development of the monastery school in around 597 AD to be the date of the school’s founding.

Boarding schools are important in the Butterfly Lion because if not there wouldn’t be any story at all. Because the twoboys went to a boarding school in England. Bertie in England found Millie by scaping from the boarding school.

And if the boy wouldn’t have gone to a boarding school he wouldn’t have found Millie and we wouldn’t have a story.
